Mission Statement
Head Start is a federally-funded child development program designed to help break the cycle of poverty by providing preschool children of low-income families with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional and psychological needs. Head Start’s approach is that the parent is the child’s primary educator and that the entire family, as well as the community, must be involved in guiding and nurturing the child.
Description
The Head Start program of Green Bay is implementing the EatPlayGrow health curriculum starting at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. The EatPlayGrow cirriculum is a health educational curriculum thatteaches children ages 2-5 and their parents how to make healthy nutrition and physical activity choices. To help teach the importance of this program, a health packet will be sent home monthly for each child in our program. The health packet will include health education, as well as a health activity to be completed by the child and his/her parent. Our program is seeking volunteers to help put together these monthly health packets so our students can get the benefit and education of this wonderful curriculum.
