Mission Statement

Black Dog Club's mission is to provide rescue, rehabilitation, and training for dogs pulled from death row from local animal shelters. Our primary focus is black dogs but we are open to all animals regardless of breed, color, or species. Our motto is to provide a paw, claw, or hoof up to pets in need. We also plan to provide educational assistance to the community and to provide community outreach including spay/neuter assistance, housing, and feed care, and assistance with veterinary care for those that cannot afford these services.

Description

Black Dog Club is a 501c3 non-profit pet rescue and sanctuary. We are located in Smithfield, North Carolina, a suburb about 20 miles outside of Raleigh. Don’t l et our name fool you! Our home is open to any animal that needs a paw, claw or hoof up. We chose the name Black Dog Club because black pets are simply overlooked in many shelters across the county. Statistically, they spend more time in shelters, rescues, and foster homes than their colored counterparts. In addition, black pets are more likely to be euthanized than their colored counterparts. This phenomenon is commonly known as Black Dog Syndrome. We hope that when considering a new pet, you will consider a rescue or shelter pet...and if you can, make it black. I promise you will not be disappointed.
