Mission Statement

To save the lives of feral/community cats through TNvR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate & Return) to control colonies & decrease overpopulation.. To educate the public regarding TNR/TNvR efforts and efficacy. Additional focus on humanely trapping injured wildlife for transport to appropriate facilities for treatment.

Description

HARTT seeks to educate the public regarding alternative solutions to managing the overwhelming outdoor cat population. Statistical data shows that properly managed TNvR programs can save tens of thousands of dollars of tax payer money previously spent on cat euthanasia. HARTT recently proved this theory by implementing such a program in Gloucester Twp, NJ. In less than 6 months, the TNR program SAVED the Township from spending over $30,000 on Animal Control fees, County animal shelter fees, and euthanasia of cats deemed unadoptable. Through HARTT's efforts, dozens of cats live happily in a cat colony where they are fed daily, but won't contribute to the feral population. Dozens more were determined to be human-compatible and found loving homes.

HARTT is 100% reliable on donations and volunteers. We're looking for volunteers in 2 capacities: Hands-on and Behind the scenes. By "hands-on", we mean people willing to trap and transport animals, and assist in feeding the community cats. "Behind the scenes" volunteers are needed for office tasks, fundraising efforts, and maintaining our social media presence (essentially, anything not related to handling animals).
