Mission Statement

Through My Eyes Foundation believes change starts by listening to those you seek to help. We use documentary filmmaking to give a voice to those that go unheard. Through partnering with fellow nonprofits around the world, we work directly with the kids. Mentoring them through creating a narrative about their life, community, culture, issues, and dreams for a better tomorrow. The films they create are shown to the world to raise money and awareness. We use the money to put towards their education and the communities they live in. Creating a platform for voices to be heard, for change to start.

Description

We gained 501c3 status January of 2017. From the vision of a travel filmmaker whose story began as a homeless teenager. We do not have the answer to end poverty and global issues, but we do have the means to spread awareness. By putting the power within the communities we seek to serve to create positive change.
While our main mission is to form a team of 4-5 kids in each community and mentor them through the process of creating their own documentary, we have multiple programs running at the same time. We have other people in the community create short journalistic videos to be shared online. We have the volunteers film a behind the scenes web series program to raise awareness. Each volunteer is giving the means to film from their perspective as well. Through story-telling, we create positive growth.
