Mission Statement
St Johns County Audubon is a long-standing chapter of the National Audubon Society. Its mission is to promote the protection, preservation, and restoration of the habitats of birds and other wildlife through education, stewardship, and conservation through science-based advocacy.
Description
St Johns County is located in the Atlantic Migratory Flyway and we strive to make this area a nationally-recognized sanctuary for migrating birds and native birds alike. We work to protect nesting habitats of shorebirds and seabirds, the clean-up of wading bird habitats, and to provide stewardship programs and as well as citizen science programs for the enhancement of habitats and the data collection for ornithologists, Florida Fish & Wildlife CC, and Audubon Florida.
Our three largest efforts are
1. Stewarding of beach-nesting bird habitats
2. Audubon Eagle Watch Program
3. Wading Bird Habitat Cleanups
We are supported by membership and both a state and national network of Audubon chapters
