Mission Statement

The Tampa International Fringe Festival was founded in 2017 by William Glenn, David Jenkins, and Trish Parry as an open-access performing arts festival in Ybor City with the twin goals of: * Encouraging local artists to create and share more new, daring, and risky work by creating a culturally and financially accessible platform for them to present their work allowing access to facilities, marketing, and press which would otherwise be difficult to gain access to. * Bringing outside voices to the Tampa stage, increasing the visibility of the Tampa Bay Area as a cultural hub and inspiring local emerging artists through diverse and innovative work from different cultural and national contexts.

Description

The Tampa International Fringe is an annual ten day performing arts festival taking place at venues across historic Ybor City. The shows are unjuried, uncensored - meaning they were actually selected out of a hat! We had many applicants for Year 2, with shows coming from all over Tampa Bay and the world.

Our festival is composed of twenty-nine shows with fifty percent of the slots going to local artists, twenty-five percent going to national artists, and twenty-five percent going to international artists. Artists present work in four different venues around Ybor City, and additional events take place in our festival events spaces. In our second year, we will be expanding from one weekend to two, allowing each company to present six performances of their work for a grand total of almost two hundred performances and events.
