Kwah Dao is a registered non-profit organization working to empower disenfranchised communities in Pai with the skills, knowledge and education necessary to improve their quality of life and enhance their future opportunities. The majority of the children we serve are from migrant families or are stateless and face countless barriers to education, employment and security. We believe that education is a key factor in enabling the capabilities that allow people to lift themselves out of poverty and build a better future. Our educational programs are designed to expand our students’ opportunities and poise them to make a positive impact on their local communities and throughout the world.
We provide the educational and personal support vulnerable children need to not only succeed but excel in school. Our programs work to support youth from early childhood to university age.
The Youth Center is a safe space where students have the opportunity to learn new skills, explore their creativity and gain the self-confidence necessary for success. We coordinate English lessons and extracurricular activities for approximately 60 students. The Youth Center operates during the school year and also hosts a special Summer School over the long school break.
We offer scholarships and academic guidance that allow students to attend university and vocational education. We currently support nine scholarship students. Without these scholarships, our students would not have the financial means to pursue higher education.
We provide additional support to students or families most in need. This includes financial support for medical and educational fees, channeling donations of clothes and other items, and support in emergencies.
