Our mission is to bring Caribbean folk culture, artists, music, stories, movement and theatre into prominent spaces while achieving greater recognition. Braata both entertains AND educates patrons, giving a voice to our diverse issues, performers, writers and directors. Through creative authenticity, Braata represents and presents the folk culture of the Caribbean islands.
"Braata" is a Jamaican colloquial term meaning 'extra’ or 'more’.
Braata Productions is the embodiment of the definition, giving its supporters, and audiences something more at all times.
Conceived by actor/singer Andrew Clarke, Braata was founded in 2009 to address the complete needs of theatre patrons in the U.S. by showcasing and promoting authentic Caribbean talent and culture through storytelling, music and dance. We aim to foster and develop a greater interest, understanding and appreciation for the Caribbean region and Diaspora by showcasing its rich lifestyles, traditions and customs through the visual and performing arts.
