See the joy on a family's face when they pick out the kitten they will love for the rest of its life! Become an Adoption Team volunteer for Little Orphans Kitten Rescue. Some of the tasks the Team handles include: Updating and managing our kittens on Petfinder Soliciting kitten profile information and pictures from foster volunteers Reviewing adoption applications, including calling references Coordinating with fosters to arrange pickups Keeping approved adopters informed about their kitten's progress Once you clear a family to adopt, you have the opportunity to be there when they pick up their kitten and take it home!

Volunteer Social Media and Website Manager

If you love kittens and enjoy developing and maintaining websites, or managing an organization's social media presence, we need you! The website at orphankittens.org is newly built, but there are occasional glitches that need to be fixed (e.g. with forms) and a few ideas we have for building it out more. For social media, we currently have a Facebook page and an Instagram account and would very deeply appreciate having a committed volunteer to develop and implement a social media plan to create a more consistent presence for us. Both our website and our social media accounts could help us grow our foster volunteer base, our donor base, and our community presence. If this is a project you feel ready and able to dive into, please get in touch with us!

Executive Director

The Executive Director is in charge of all day-to-day operations of the organization. Duties include managing: kitten intake and care, foster- and other volunteers (including training), the adoption process, supplies (including formula, deworming medicines, vaccines, food), relations with veterinary clinics, the website, handling phone calls, and other duties as required. The Executive Director is an ex officio member of the Board of Directors, which meets the first Monday of each month, usually remotely. The best person for this position has years of experience caring for bottle-baby kittens; understands how nonprofit organizations operate and are governed; works well with volunteers; and is committed to the success, financial stability, and longevity of LOKR. The Executive Director must be located within Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Description

Little Orphans Kitten Rescue (LOKR) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded in 2011 to reduce euthanasia in shelters of the most vulnerable by providing care for orphaned neonatal kittens or "bottle babies" (typically under 6 weeks old) and finding them loving forever families.

I volunteered as a foster and was amazed at the support I received. Not only did it include training on how to care for kittens, but I was given all the supplies and food I needed. They were also able to connect me with other fosters who could help answer everyday questions and provide support and advice. I also appreciated the information given when the kitten in my care needed some medical attention. Highly recommend!
