Mission Statement

We are a collective library and venue, run and operated by our members. All our books and shows are sought out specifically for the unique interests of our members. We specialize in rare books and marginalized or subversive ideas which wouldn't be so easily found through mainstream means.

Description

The Alternative Library offers an amazing public book collection, heavily featuring art books, comics, and work from many small publishers. Beyond that we’re also a community space, hosting events here nearly every day, including concerts, film screenings, workshops, and readings.

We also run a curated small-press store, with a curated selection of international small-press publications, and featuring many of our volunteers’ favorite books alongside books, zines, records, tapes and prints made by members of the AltLib.
