Mission Statement

Description

Handz On Hope’s model is based on:
Expanding our creativity
Finding creative ways for business enterprise
Learning from people different from ourselves
Learning from the environment/nature
Exploring our inner life
Identifying ways to take action on what we care about in the world.

These themes are central to the success of our 7 week-long summer camp and emphasized in various ways in our school-year after school programs and adult training programs.

NuLife promotes creative and wearable solutions to extend the useful life of clothing. In addition to sharing practical upcycling tips and inspiration in our sewing training class, we run hands-on workshops for after school and community groups to teach easy garment upcycling tricks alongside practical sewing skills. We raise awareness of the damaging impact the fashion industry can have on people and planet.

Another great aspect of the NuLife’s concept is that they offer workshops and sewing classes to encourage the community to make, remake or alter their own clothing. Youth Go Green Summer Camp and After School Up-cycling Workshop.
Communicating sustainability through art, design and education
