Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with SOUL Saturday, February 4 in Algiers! When: Saturday, February 4. Sign-in at 9:30 AM; Announcements at 9:45 AM; Planting from 10 AM - 1:30 PM. Where: Algiers. Basecamp is at the Louisiana SPCA, 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd. There is parking available at basecamp for sign in, and volunteers will walk or drive to their planting locations after signing in. Here is the link to sign up, which will be open until Friday afternoon: https://soulnola.org/volunteer-sign-up/ Below are some notes for the planting event: Please arrive on time. We will start planting promptly at 10am. After check-in at base camp, volunteers will meet up with their planting groups for instructions and walk together to the planting site. If you think you’ll need a snack to sustain your energy throughout the day, please bring one with you. We will have coffee during sign in, in addition to pizza and beer following the planting. During check-in, please proceed to the table with the fewest number of people in line and maintain 6 feet of distance while waiting. Please let the volunteers running our sign-in tables know if you are part of an organization or volunteer group so they will place you in the correct group. Wear closed-toed, comfortable shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, or any other protection you need from the sun or the elements. Please bring your own reusable water bottle that can be refilled throughout the day. We will not provide disposable water bottles as part of our commitment to avoid the use of single-use plastics. We'll provide tools and clean gloves, but you are welcome to bring your own gloves if you have a favorite pair. Please review tree-planting instructions in advance of Saturday.
