Mission Statement
The Foundation for Academic Endeavors has committed to working together with the disadvantaged communities in Skagit Valley, and has set its vision "to create opportunities for academic growth for low-income families from all language groups, all ages, all religions who would benefit from academic companionship, including but not limited to the following: Enrichment Opportunities, Academic programs for children, Adult Education, and Community Partnerships."
Description
The FAE Summer Academy provides a 5-week education opportunity each summer for low-income and at-risk, primarily Latino children in our Skagit Valley communities. In partnership with Skagit Valley College and local school districts, children preschool- grade nine receive free transportation to and from the college campus, and two free meals each day. Certified teachers and college interns, who themselves are from the migrant community, incorporate literacy and reading into a curriculum based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Enrichment activities include music, art, and field trips, all based on the theme of "Caring for Our Earth".
