Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which provides a volunteer platform throughout Massachusetts to bridge the gap between surplus fresh and prepared food from businesses to local shelters and soup kitchens who freely give this food to those in need. RLC was founded in 2013 in NYC, and started in MA in 2016.
In 2017, over 40,000 pounds of food accounted for over 30,000 meals for those in need throughout Massachusetts, thanks to the collaboration of our food donors, volunteers and recipients. There is a high demand for the food our volunteers rescue: in addition to our homeless population, nearly 1 in 10 households is experiencing some level of food insecurity in our State. More and more people are relying on surplus prepared food donation to make ends meet. Anyone can volunteer: whether you’re 9 or 99, travel by 4 wheels, 2 wheels or 2 feet, you can volunteer! For kind kids under 16, an adult must be present, making this a gratifying family effort. An average Volunteer Opportunity rescues 50 pounds of food, feeds 40 people ...and takes about 30-60 minutes!
