Mission Statement

Rubia promotes women’s empowerment through education and income generation from the sale of heritage handwork in Afghanistan and Mali.

Description

Since 2001, Rubia has offered Afghan women the opportunity to empower themselves through the creation of traditional embroidery. Building on its 17 years of experience in Afghanistan, Rubia improves the livelihoods of Malian textile artists and preserves their cultural heritage of mud cloth (bogolan). Rubia targets women and unemployed youth.
