Mission Statement

The Center for Health Empowerment (pronounced CH--EEE) (CHE) is a nonprofit organization with the mission of providing access to high-quality wellness services for under-served populations. CHE provides sexually transmitted infection (including hepatitis C) screening, prevention and treatment; and HIV prevention with PrEP and PEP medications. Priority populations include African-American and Latino Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), women of color (African-American women, in particular), transgender individuals, youth ages 18 to 24, and injecting drug users.

  • Are you looking for a way to give back to your community?
  • Do you have experience in the medical field? or
  • Do you just have a few hours each week/month on your hands that you would like to share with an organization?
Then you have come to the right place. We are looking for Lab techs, Spanish speaking interpreters, Outreach workers and Office staff to carry out our mission.

Our energy is in the name "Volun-CHE-er". We are looking for energetic, positive, outgoing and dedicated individuals to become CHE-erleaders to our underserved populations and navigate them through their access to sexual health services.

Annually, CHE provides provides primary sexual health medical services to over over 1,000 indigent and underserved populations at little to no out of pocket cost.

Becoming a Volun-CHE-er not only gives you an opportunity to build on your existing experience and knowledge, but it also allows you to develop new skills and knowledge while serving a population that does not generally have access to care and services.

Contact us today to get involved and become a Volun-CHE-er. Just a few hours a week or month makes a significant difference in someones life. The more we give, the happier we feel.
