Mission Statement

The mission of Special Olympics Florida Monroe County is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Description

We serve over 300 athletes and partners in the Florida Keys. We host 3 Area Games and 5 County Games, with a high need for volunteers and organizers. 7 sports with year round training requires many volunteers and coaches. We also offer health education and screening, athlete leadership training and in school programs.
