Mission Statement

To provide for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation.

Description

Perched on a cliff on the central California coast, 50 miles south of San Francisco, the 115-foot Pigeon Point Lighthouse, one of the tallest lighthouses in America, has been guiding mariners since 1872. We are seeking volunteer docents to help us preserve this important cultural resource and to share this historic site and the beautiful landscape that surrounds it with visitors from across the globe. Whether you are educating the public about our first-order Fresnel lens, helping visitors spot whales from our viewing deck, or assisting visitors in the park store, you are sure to find your place in this welcoming atmosphere.

New volunteer docent training will be offered April/May 2020. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Joe Rogers, at Volunteers.PigeonPoint@parks.ca.gov or call (650) 879-2120 for more details.
