I started volunteering for Downs2Earth in the last few weeks. I love that I can contribute remotely. The focus of sustainability is one that I can easily get behind. All other volunteers are friendly and eager to come together as a team.
I volunteered remotely with Downs2Earth for about a month. They were a friendly group. However, they didn’t have a system in place to assign the appropriate amount of work for the number of hours I was willing to donate.
Projects and important documents were spread out and posted on different platforms. To access needed materials, I had to be signed in to their private website, Google Docs, MeisterTask, and Slack at the same time. In addition, there was no project management in place. The actual priority of tasks was unclear and changed daily.
I wrote all their volunteer recruitment materials, social media updates, and donation requests, among other things. After a month I was asked to provide a copy of my resume. I declined and asked for a copy of the policy (which was not provided to me). Without any questions or further discussion, I was immediately denied access to everything.
This was a cause I would have liked to give on-going support to-but it was too disorganized.
