Mission Statement

Hong Kong Association of Washington Foundation (HKAWF), a 501(c)3 organization registered with the state of Washington, was founded in 2009 in support of the philanthropic work of the Hong Kong Association of Washington. The foundation engages in events that support the advancement of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the fields of Education, Health, Science, Athletic, and Human Services.

Description

he Hong Kong Greater China Business Association of Washington / Hong Kong Association of Washington Foundation created the Lunar New Year Gala in 2008 to showcase the organization’s effort to make a difference for people in our community. Over the past nine years, proceeds from this event have benefited Seattle Children’s, Center for Children & Youth Justice (CCYJ), Bruce Lee Action Museum, Washington Initiative for Supported Employment, Seattle Chinese Garden, Seattle Symphony, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), and Bellevue LifeSpring. Each year, the event raised over $300,000, with more than 600 attendees. The Lunar New Year Gala has raised well over $3.0 million for these deserving local charities and the Hong Kong Greater China Business Association of Washington/ Hong Kong Association of Washington Foundation is proud to continue our service to the community. Proceeds from the Lunar New Year Gala benefit our selected charity. Through the volunteer effort of the Hong Kong Greater China Business Association of Washington / Hong Kong Association of Washington Foundation members and designated charity organizations, the event has grown to be one of the most successful galas in Seattle’s Asian community.
