Mission Statement

The mission of the Brown House Experience (501c3) is to promote the positive development of at-risk Chicagoland youth by providing unique opportunities to enhance their academic, social and emotional intelligence through arts, culture and hands-on experience.

Description

The Brown House Experience is a NFP that provides at-risk youth with opportunities for experiential learning using the Arts, Health and STEM projects. We currently provide girls in kindergarten-8th grade with a free after-school program called, B.B.B. (Brilliant Brown Beauties). The B.B.B. targets girls that have difficulty displaying positive actions in school. As a result, many of the Beauties also have difficulty maintaining passing grades. We collect weekly behavior/grade evaluations from the teachers to track their progress. We engage the Beauties in weekly hands-on projects geared towards filling the gap between their current behavior and their goal behavior. The program was designed to empower girls by enhancing their cultural awareness, self-confidence/worth, social skills, academic scholarship and behavior management skills. We are expanding the program to include the male B.B.B. (Brilliant Brown Beaus).
Our organization also values involving the entire community in developing the youth. We provide the Chicagoland area with hands-on community events. Our Daddy-Daughter & Mother-Son Date Night engaged parents and their children in STEM and Art projects. The event was a huge success and have over 20 couples an evening to dance, create, eat and engage in hands-on activities.
