We are currently looking for volunteers to join our friendly and supportive team! Our patients are terminally ill and would benefit from compassionate individuals that are willing to bring comfort and joy while they take the final path of their life. We’re looking for individuals willing to visit our patients in their homes, which may also include nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Your gift of time will allow someone to feel cared for during their final stage in life, and hopefully you will create lasting memories for our patients, their families, and for yourself! Examples of this volunteer work may look like: Companionship: Spend quality time with hospice patients, engaging in conversation, listening, reading, or simply being a comforting presence. Emotional Support: Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, offering empathy and a compassionate ear. Activities: Assist with various activities that bring joy and comfort to patients, such as playing games, listening to music, or engaging in arts and crafts. Practical Help: Provide light household assistance, such as running errands, grocery shopping, or light meal preparation for the patient and their family. Communication: Maintain open communication with the hospice care team, sharing observations and insights about the patient's well-being. Documentation: Record your interactions and observations accurately as required by the hospice organization. Training: Attend mandatory training sessions to understand hospice philosophy, communication skills, and the emotional aspects of end-of-life care. Qualifications: Compassionate and empathetic nature. Excellent listening and communication skills. Respect for patient confidentiality and boundaries. Reliability and commitment to scheduled volunteer hours. Ability to work effectively within a team and follow guidance from healthcare professionals. Completion of required training sessions and background checks as mandated by the hospice organization. Benefits: Fulfillment through helping patients and families during a challenging time. Personal and emotional growth by offering support and companionship. Opportunity to learn about end-of-life care, empathy, and active listening. Training and networking opportunities within the healthcare field. Our office is based in Covina, but we have patients throughout the Inland Empire area. All volunteers will be provided with training prior to providing service. Contact us today! Volunteers are an essential part of the hospice care team, focusing on emotional and practical support for patients and their loved ones.
