Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Quitman Public Library to provide and make readily available library materials selected in response to the patron's interests with respect to reference, informational, leisure enjoyment, and to provide services that will enhance these major functions. The selection of reference materials should provide for a collection that is broad in scope, and consisting of accurate and up-to-date materials. Popular materials selection should give emphasis to circulating items which are current, in high demand, and in a variety of formats to meet the needs of the community served by the Quitman Public Library.
Description
The Quitman Public Library has over 7,000 card-holding patrons and is located in Quitman, a rural East Texas town with a population of 1811. The library is physically the largest library in Wood County, and it is located within the city's walking district with frontage along Texas SH 37 & SH 154.
The library is the heart of the community, and it brings people together in a way no other community organization can.
