Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
We are one of 88 Community Gardens run by the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. We have created an urban oasis in the middle of South Lake Union while building community.
Each gardener pays for the use of a small plot and agrees to work to maintain the entire garden area. We show our neighbors how food can be grown in this environment by improving the soil and using no chemicals. Most member-gardeners produce the food to supplement their family's diet with locally-grown, healthy food. All gardeners work to donate food to local food banks. Gardeners from 8-88 keep active while living off the earth.
The garden is a little piece of green among so many concrete buildings. It prevents runoff, and recycles to develop the living soil. It is both a beautiful area to walk through as well as an educational opportunity.
Neighbors may sign up for plots or a waiting list. All are encouraged to join in ou r monthly work parties and become involved.
