Mission Statement

The mission of the Firefighters 4 Kids Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys the year, and distribute those toys during the Christmas season to children ages 0-12 years of age who are impacted by poverty within Franklin County Ohio.

Description

The Firefighters 4 Kids program started in 1977 as a very small program in the basement of its founder and Columbus Firefighter, Mike Mullins.

In 2016, the program provided toys to 5,600 families and over 17,000 children. They do all of this from donations from the community, some sponsors such as the Columbus Division of Fire, NBC, CME Federal Credit Union, Franklin Equipment, Lowendick Contractors, TSTech, and a very strong volunteer community. We have also partnered with other fire departments such as Upper Arlington, Dublin and Worthington to have additional support with a secondary toy drive.

The program is run entirely by volunteers from the community and both retired and active Columbus firefighters. At no time has anyone that is a part of the program received a salary, and that continues to be the standard today.
