Mission Statement

The LAMP provides tools for K-12 youth to comprehend, create, and challenge media through experiences engaging in media activism.

Description

Founded in 2007, The LAMP is a New York City-based nonprofit providing vital, hands-on services that help students, parents, and educators navigate and thrive in a digital age of constant information.

Following the widespread onslaught of misinformation in the 2016 Presidential election, we received an overwhelming demand to scale and diversify our media activism work. In response, The LAMP came together with a diverse coalition of organizational partners to create to expand our reach, and we launched the 22x20 Campaign.

The goal of the 22x20 Campaign, helmed by The LAMP and CIRCLE, is to foster a system to equip the 22 million teens who will be newly eligible to vote in 2020 to become informed and engaged voters in 2020. The LAMP and a network of youth leaders, media, education, and civic organizations are working to pilot and create more opportunities to uplift and activate youth voice and inspire engagement in the 2020 electoral processes.
