Mission Statement
CAAB strives to create a community that provides everyone with incentives and opportunities to save for the future. We work toward this vision through four primary areas of programming: financial education workshops, Matched Savings, community-wide campaigns, and financial capability building.
Description
Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB) puts people on the road to financial independence. Since 1997, our programs have helped low- and moderate-income individuals and families improve their money management skills, increase their savings, and build wealth by investing wisely.
Our strong partnership with other agencies and service providers enable CAAB to provide financial education and coaching to 2,000 low- and moderate- income individuals. CAAB brings trained staff, effective curriculum and evidence-based one-on-one financial capability building services to partners with different primary mission focus.
CAAB co-locates staff in DC Department of Employment Services offices and provides financial education workshops at two DC Public Libraries (in Wards 5 and 8). We provide financial education and coaching at Housing Authority complexes in Montgomery County and DC, as well as, four residential programs in Prince George’s County and DC serving individuals experiencing homelessness or who are survivors of violence.
