QUICK OVERVIEW A volunteer is needed to oversee and coordinate the Tutoring program operations at Joseph Learning Lab's (JLL) nonprofit. IMPACT We are on a mission to close the learning gap, reduce the dropout rate, and develop students of all ages and diverse backgrounds by allowing them an equal opportunity for learning and personal growth. We tutor and mentor underprivileged children at our after school learning sessions, who are being left behind the learning curve. We also instruct underprivileged children at our summer enrichment sessions. VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES A volunteer is needed to remotely oversee the coordination and administration of the Learning Lab's tutoring and summer enrichment programs that support JLL's mission. REQUIREMENTS The position is part-time and may be done remotely. The volunteer is expected to have the following: College degree More than two years of Program management/coordination experience Good verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, management skills, experience with computer technology and overall good work ethics There is an application/background check process before volunteering with JLL. QUICK OVERVIEW Tutors are needed to help underserved children get caught up and back on track in person or online with core courses, such as reading and math. Tutor sessions will be 90 minutes each two to three days a week for the entire school term. MISSION Joseph Learning Lab is an educational outreach nonprofit organization. We are on a mission to close the learning gap, reduce the dropout rate, and develop students of all ages and diverse backgrounds by allowing them an equal opportunity for learning and personal growth. We tutor and mentor underserved children, who are being left behind the learning curve. IMPACT Volunteers will tutor students from grade 1st - high school in core courses, and help them with homework so they can grasp learning concepts to improve their confidence, get caught up and on track with grades, and test scores. VOLUNTEER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Volunteers will tutor children in-person on campus or in our Nonprofit Classroom/Google Meet tutoring sessions. The tutor sessions are conducted for 90 minutes two to three days a week, between 3 pm - 6:30 pm PST for the entire school term. REQUIREMENTS Volunteers are expected to be college educated, child friendly, and complete an application/background check before tutoring with JLL. Orientation/Training will be provided by JLL Nonprofit.
