Mission To support vulnerable people affected by crises to attain dignified and prosperous lives through impactful community resilience and practical, innovative programs. Vision An empowered community, living a dignified and prosperous life and possessing the capacity to influence decisions that affect their lives. Values The core values that drive HDC are impartiality, accountability and integrity, coupled with professionalism and a commitment to learning and innovation.
Established in 2008, Humanitarian and Development Consortium (HDC) is a national NGO delivering high-quality programming to beneficiaries across South Sudan in four core areas of: food security and livelihoods, protection and gender development, equitable education, peace building and good governance. HDC programming is directed at refugees, returnees, vulnerable host communities, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in South Sudan. The organization strives to facilitate people-centered development programs, supporting crisis-interventions as well as supporting livelihoods-focused initiatives that create opportunities for marginalized and disadvantaged peoples.
In response to the protracted crisis in South Sudan, in 2017 HDC looked towards bolstering its capacity, through the engagement of more resources, both financial and people, from North America, through the establishment of a 501c3 charitable arm in the United States. This new wing of the organization will be a facilitator of awareness, partnership building, technical collaboration, and fundraising from foundations and individuals.
