Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Our mission is -to enable persons age 16 and older to acquire the skills they need to meet the challenges they encounter in daily life and to take full advantage of opportunities in society; -to provide literacy instruction to educationally disadvantaged persons and persons of limited English proficiency; -to tailor instruction to students' personal goals and the assessed needs of individual students; and to develop partnerships with other agencies and organizations to address the adult basic education needs of the greater Hastings area and to ensure that the students' total needs are considered.
Who We Are
The Hastings Literacy Program is a nonprofit, community-based organization that partners with Central Community College and the United Way of South Central Nebraska in offering adult literacy and general education instruction to Hastings area residents.
Many of our students are immigrants to this country and non-native speakers of English. Many other students have never completed their high school education. Our aim is to help these individuals, whatever their background, acquire the skills and information they need to better their own lives, reach toward achieving their personal potential, and establish themselves as contributing members of society. What We Do
The Hastings Literacy Program offers GED/ABE/ESL classes in the morning and in the evening to accommodate busy schedules.
ALL CLASSES ARE FREE!
