Mission Statement

To provide educational and life-changing experiences for combat veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars who are battling the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and who are motivated to learn to Live On. Our goal is to provide a holistic, whole-person clinical treatment plan to each veteran to help them heal through body, mind, heart and spirit. We are dedicated to helping combat veterans realize and learn about their innate ability to heal in order to live healthy and fruitful lives. Our program is rooted in nature and recognizes the importance of relationship through the establishment of a new, and safe community to belong to. Opportunities are then afforded to veterans to learn, grow and nurture other veterans.

Description

Warriors Live On believes in the holistic healing of trauma. We believe in practices that integrate body, mind and spirit. In addition to some common medical practices that address the acute mental health symptoms of battlefield trauma, warriors need the ongoing support of an understanding community. As Warriors move through and heal symptoms they learn to Live On again in a more integrated and intentional way.

We utilize strength-based teaching methods for the body, relaxation methods, mindfulness, and also adventure-based group therapy methodologies to build self-efficacy, coping skills, relationship-building and healthy living skills. Much of our work integrates mind and body, and, eventually, spiritual connections are made, as warriors living beyond trauma find deeper inspiration within. Although we are not a religious-based organization, many of our programs allude to the spiritual, where we find kindness towards our human fellowship.
