Mission Statement

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) is the world’s knowledge network to support implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. With over 700 members worldwide, we mobilize universities, research institutes, and technical experts from other sectors to promote practical solutions for sustainable development.

Description

SDSN has operated under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General since its launch in 2012. From 2012 to the adoption of the SDGs in 2015, the SDSN focused on bringing the evidence base for good goal and target setting to policymakers. Key outputs include publications such as An Action Agenda for
Sustainable Development and Indicators and a Monitoring Framework for Sustainable Development Goals.

After the adoption of the SDGs by all countries in 2015, SDSN turned its focus to implementation of the SDGs, especially through our National and Regional SDSNs. Key contributions in this space include research on financing the SDGs, research on how to foster a data revolution to support the SDGs, guides on SDG implementation at the national, municipal, and university level, and indices on SDG achievement in countries and US cities. SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, and civil society in the implementation of projects.
