Mission Statement

Young Progressives Demanding Action is a youth-led unapologetically progressive organization educating and empowering this generation’s leaders to facilitate action leading to sustained progress. We fight to go beyond resistance with a strict adherence to justice, centering those most marginalized toward progress. We facilitate cross-community mentorship and collaboration between high schoolers, college students, and other young progressives to build youth power locally. Our national leadership builds coalitions with other organizations who take action with a similar, "Justice or Bust" approach. Chapters are briefed and active on the same national issues; the GWU chapter in DC lobbies and brings all of our youth power to Capitol Hill. We aim to build progressive youth power and make tangible progress in the face of repression.

Description

Formed in 2016, we are entirely led by volunteer students or recently graduated activists. We have 25 high school and college chapters in 10 states throughout the US. We facilitate cross-community organizing and action with high schoolers, college students, and allies to build youth power locally.

Progressive Issue Education
Our advocacy is primarily anchored in education for leaders. We facilitate an unapologetically progressive curriculum through teach-ins to build a shared student left consciousness.

State Legislative Advocacy

We push for progressive change at the state level with coordinated issue- centric advocacy campaigns. Every state has three strategic goals each legislative session such as #FightFor15 #MedicareForAll & #FreeCollege

Facilitate Action

We build campus-wide networks of issue-based progressive groups to create action and lubricate disengaged students to mobilize, organize, and embed in the progressive movement.
