Description
The Parent Advisory Council is a group of volunteer parents and community members who promote the goals of the district's early childhood programming. Our program's mission is to strengthen Bloomington families through quality education and support in parenting and parent-child relationships.
The Parent Advisory Council advises the district on a variety of issues affecting parents of young children, including policy, fees, programming, how money is spent, and what events are important to families. The Council sponsors a variety of fun events for young families.
The Council also reaches out to the community by...- informing legislators, school board, new parents and the community in general about our early childhood programs.
- providing charitable donations to organizations serving families in the community.
- collaborating with other community organizations on projects to benefit families with young children.
The Council manages fundraisers and determines where to allocate the monies raised. In past years they have raised funds for new playgrounds at Pond and Southwood, digital cameras and computers, supplemental classroom materials, literacy curriculum, and supplemental student activities.
