Mission Statement

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)education enhances many skills in youth: creativity, critical thinking,problem solving and logistics, to name a few. "Teaching STEM [to] elementary grades opens the doors for ... students to become tomorrow’s movers and shakers. Young children with a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics will go on to play an integral role in our nation’s global competitiveness and economic stability."** The percentage of women and minorities that are employed in STEM fields is disproportionately low. As our communities attempt to grow and evolve, this issue must be recognized and addressed. Description

Take Your Place, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) curriculum to underrepresented young women in the Chicagoland Metropolitan area. These courses will be offered via weekend workshops and summer camps. Take Your Place, Inc. strives to offer programs and services that increase underrepresented girls’ exposure, understanding and participation in the STEM fields.

Take Your Place, Inc. serves girls ages 6 - 12 with programs that are designed to introduce, intrigue and enhance underrepresented girls’ skills in the STEM fields, while promoting critical thinking and advanced study skills.

Take Your Place, Inc. will use our platform to assist the young women of our future, teaching them to exemplify how they will take their place in shaping and creating the future.
