Description

PA Home of the Sparrow currently offers the following programs: Transistional Housing, Affordable Housing and Homelessness Prevention. The cornerstone of what PA Home of the Sparrow provides is the Transitional Housing. Women and children live in a safe, secure house for several months while the women find jobs, go back to school and receive counseling. Some graduates of the transitional program can move into Affordable Housing. These are secure apartments or houses managed by the agency. There, women pay just 30% of their gross incomes for rent and utilities. The Homelessness Prevention program supports graduates who are living independently. Agency case managers remain in regular contact with these women, identifying problem areas and helping them solve problems as they arise. Case managers also provide advice and referrals to women outside the program who are homeless or are in danger of becoming homeless.
