TO PROVIDE SELF HELP AND OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES AND COMMUNITY. PROVIDE FREE TAX PREPARATION THROUGH THE IRS VITA PROGRAM.
CCOW Inc. is a community based organization dedicated to self help and volunteerism. I serve in the capacity of spokesperson, probation services monitor, archivists, historian and curator, through the collection of the community’s history. Also serve as FRLS and FEJC Ambassador to ensure that knowledge of the services and programs are made available to those I network with and/or refer for services. Also numerous other responsibilities and duties which helped to ensure that the day to day business of CCOW Inc. was accomplished and that citizens were able to access needed programs and services being offered by the County and other Polk County service providers. Assisted in the creation of the first Community Phone Book for Waverly, providing a means of communication and the assessment of the community, during times of emergencies or disasters. Facilitated and provided assistance in the creation of the first Neighbor Assisted planning and building of a community park in conjunction with Polk County Leisure Services, CNCS, United Way, Local Churches and citizens of Waverly. Coordinated quarterly and monthly park and community clean ups. Began the first Newspaper Recycling Program in Un-Incorporated Polk County, in conjunction with S & P Recycling and Keep Polk County Beautiful (KPCB). Held annual community celebrations, and events such as Rosa Robinson Day, Great American Clean Up, February AIDS Awareness Month Presentations, Volunteer Awards Banquet, Board of Director Elections, and Community Easter Egg Hunt.
