Mission Statement
The mission of Literacy Connections of Wayne County is to promote and provide free literacy services to Wayne County adults. Our vision is that all Wayne County adults will have the literacy skills to succeed at home and in the community.
Description
The core program of Literacy Connections of Wayne County is a tutor/adult student partnership program. A volunteer tutor is paired with an adult literacy student and are scheduled to meet for two hours each week to work on an individually targeted curriculum for that student. Our goal is that each LCWC student will make significant improvements in their reading skills within six months of program participation. Community volunteers may be active in many areas of LCWC operations: as community spokespersons, reading tutor/instructor, math or computer instructors, programming assistants, technology managers, media and public relations advisors, fundraisers, curriculum advisors...whatever a person's talent, there is a place for you as a volunteer at Literacy Connections of Wayne County.
