The mission of Union-Snyder Community Action Agency is to reduce poverty in Union and Snyder Counties through self-sufficiency initiatives for families and individuals in collaboration with our community partners.
Union-Snyder Community Action Agency was formed in 1979 through a joint effort of the Union and Snyder County Commissioners and concerned citizens. The Joinder Board of Commissioners has governed Union-Snyder Community Action Agency since its inception, with input from an Advisory Committee of community, low-income, and local government representatives. Agency funding comes from local, state, and federal sources.
As a member of the national Community Action Agency, our two main functions are:
1. To provide self-sufficiency and stability services to low-income individuals including the homeless, the working poor, the unemployed, and those unable to work.
2. To provide community education, organization, revitalization, and development services to assist residents and communities in addressing local needs.
