Mission Statement
Family of Friends builds relationships that elevate kids and families make our community stronger. We envision a world where every child and family has access to responsive systems that help them live healthy, meaningful and productive lives.
Description
For 14 years Family of Friends has been helping low-income families by matching kids with caring, adult volunteer mentors and mentor families. We build systems of support so kids and families build strong connections and the entire community benefits!
With a focus on prevention, our program pairs kids with volunteer adults, couples and entire families as mentors. Our awesome kids live in East Multnomah County, range in age from 6-12 and typically come from low-income backgrounds.
Through weekly outings outside of school, mentors help kids build social and emotional skills linked to academic success, and provide access to safe, fun activities in the community.
