Mission Statement

Hallie’s Heroes' mission is to inspire as many people as possible to register as bone marrow donors on the National Bone Marrow Registry, and to support research for a cure for Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA). Our goals include raising awareness of, and funds for research for this very rare disease; partnering with DKMS and our community to sponsor and coordinate bone marrow drives; and to support other DBA families.

Description

Hallie Bea Barnard is looking for a bone marrow match. She was diagnosed with a very rare bone marrow disorder, Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA), at 13 months of age. She is now 9.

Hallie’s Heroes was born in July of 2015. Using Hallie’s strength and courage as our example, we decided to not just try to save our girl, but also the 14,000 other people who are desperately waiting to find their bone marrow matches, and the less than 800 kids living with DBA.

Hallie’s Heroes’ raises money to fund research to find a cure for DBA, educates and advocates for bone marrow donors, and hosts bone marrow drives in order to find matches for all patients.

We have partnered with DKMS to register potential life-saving donors.

We have also partnered with many local Fire and Police Departments and US Veterans' Organizations to raise awareness and create "double-heroes" by inspiring people to give second chances at life, even off duty.
