Compassus Hospice and Palliative care in Macon is in need of volunteers who are caring and compassionate. We provide a wonderful, caring service to patients and families, but we can't do it without the help of kindhearted and selfless volunteers. We have patient caregivers who are in need of occasional relief. Volunteers are needed to provide companionship visits to our patients, so caregivers can have an opportunity to go to the grocery store, run an errand or two, or maybe even go to a doctor's appointment. Of course, volunteers who provide this type of support are well supported by our team of hospice professionals. Volunteers who serve in this capacity do not have to provide any medical care whatsoever. Volunteers only provide their caring and compassionate presence to relieve the caregivers temporarily. Compassus Hospice in Macon is a FOUR STAR We Honor Veterans hospice provider. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? That Compassus Hospice is a provider of the highest level to care for and honor those who have served in the military when they reach the end of life. HOW CAN YOU HELP? Compassus needs volunteers who are also veterans or active military to support other veterans as they reach the end of life. Support is given through companionship and small ceremonies (in the home) to honor veterans for their service. Comprehensive training is provided for all Compassus volunteers and specific training is given for volunteers who serve veterans. Honoring our veterans is a vital part of our care and your service to them will be met with more gratitude than you can imagine. Are you willing to join our team and help us honor veterans?
