Mission Statement

Our mission as a non profit is to reduce child mortality, improve maternal and infant health and decrease malnutrition through education and opening a nutrition and health center in Antsirabe, Madagascar.

Description

At the Maheraza Nutrition and Health Center, we will provide free meals for malnourished infants from 6 months to children up to 5 years of age and one caregiver. These individuals will be screened and referred to us by local medical and social services, the Office of Regional Nutrition (ORN). There will be 30 children and their caregivers that will benefit from this 6 week program. The goal is to provide up to 5 programs in one calendar year.

We will also provide free educational workshops, each week will have a theme. For instance for a 6 week program, there would be 6 Themes such as: hygiene, nutrition, safe motherhood, family planning etc.

All workshops will be in partnership with other local NGO’s, Peace Corps, Population Service International, Office of Regional Nutrition, Catholic Relief Services, Norwegian Volunteers, LDS Church Volunteers.

After our members finish the 6 week program, in order to positively and efficiently monitor and evaluate our impact, we will undertake follow up consultations where members will come back to the center and weigh in the children, have small one on one consultations and provide feedback about their experience.
