Mission Statement

BioBonanza is a one-day open house festival celebrating local biological research at the University of Kentucky.

Description

UK researchers will create hands-on displays, presentations, games and other fun activities to educate and entertain event goers. Activities will be available on the 1st of October from 12 to 4 PM in the ne?w? building on Rose street? (Don&Cathy Jacobs Science Building - JSB)?, and people are welcome to come and go as they please during the event. Some particular displays of interest will include a bird beak form and function feeding activity, a hands-on larger than life working circulatory system model, videos of researchers doing field and laboratory work, a collecting pool full of local aquatic insects and crayfish for kids to catch, and an amazing skull and bone collection display. Though this event is still in development, we hope to have other activities showing off UK’s research with lamprey, spiny mice, salamanders, zebra fish, sawflies and more!
