The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Washington, DC (YNPNdc)’s mission is to elevate, energize, and educate the Washington DC Metro nonprofit community by sharing resources, building skills, and fostering connections. Our Board of Directors leads our community of 30+ volunteers in all aspects of the organization’s programming, communications, membership services, and strategic visioning and implementation. This is an opportunity to be part of a community of passionate individuals looking to make a difference for peers in the nonprofit space. We are especially eager to bring in new Directors seeking to contribute time and energy (3 hours / week) to our commitment to equity, volunteer coordination, and organizational/Board development. Directors will have an opportunity to lead a volunteer committee, play an integral role in strategic planning, and serve a local audience of 2,500+ plugged into the YNPNdc network. Board Members are expected to commit to at least a two-year term (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2026). One of the pillars of YNPNdc’s mission is to educate the Washington, DC metro nonprofit community by providing opportunities to build skills, share resources, and provide experiential learning opportunities. In this volunteer role, the Director of Learning Programs is responsible for creating and implementing YNPNdc’s overall educational programs strategy, working with a talented team of volunteers on the Programs Committee. This strategy currently includes the quarterly Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Speaker Series and bi-monthly Inner Circles programs. Primary Responsibilities Work with the Director of Networking and Director of Mentorship to build an annual programming plan, maintain a programming budget, and lead a team of volunteers on the Programming Committee. Oversee the planning and execution of YNPNdc learning programming, including the quarterly Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Speaker Series and bi-monthly Inner Circles programs. Ensure all learning events are staffed adequately by volunteers and Board Members. Collaborate with other Committees to identify opportunities to integrate programming into monthly events. Work with the Governance Committee and other Directors to establish and maintain strategic relationships with partner organizations to support the planning and execution of learning programs. Collaborate with the Communications Committee for event marketing. Work with the Director of People & Culture to interview and onboard Programming Committee volunteers. With support from the full board, define and implement methods of evaluating YNPNdc learning programming for impact, reach, participant satisfaction and other measures as needed. Preferred Qualifications As a young professional organization, YNPNdc is committed to providing opportunities for young and/or aspiring nonprofit professionals to develop the skills needed to advance their nonprofit careers. We are searching for a passionate Director of Partnership to cultivate our existing relationships and identify new partnership and sponsorship opportunities. In this fundraising and relationship-building role, the Director will lead YNPNdc’s sponsorship and partnership efforts, including co-chairing the Fundraising Committee alongside the Director of Fundraising. Primary Responsibilities Strengthen and execute YNPNdc’s sponsorship and partnership strategy alongside the Director of Fundraising and the Board’s Governance Committee. Conduct a comprehensive review of existing partnerships, utilizing data to inform renewal decisions. Proactively source and secure monetary sponsorships from mission-aligned organizations and universities. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to draft and manage comprehensive sponsorship and partnership agreements. Track partner and sponsorship progress and share updates with the Board of Directors and Fundraising Committee. Work with the Director of Recruitment and Retention to interview and onboard Fundraising Committee volunteers. The Director of Mentorship will be the main external face of the Mentoring Program to the community. The Director of Mentorship oversees YNPNdc’s overall strategy for providing mentorship opportunities and leads a talented team of volunteers on the Programs Committee. This position is a member of the Board of Directors for YNPNdc and, as such, entails working collaboratively with the full Board to ensure the organization’s success. Primary Responsibilities Develop and implement YNPNdc’s annual Mentorship Program, including professional development events for participants and other events Ensure programmatic excellence, program evaluation, and consistent quality. Recruit, hire, and oversee mentorship program volunteers’ training, orientation, and management. Evaluate the program regularly to measure success during and after, and implement changes based on evaluations. Build or cultivate existing relationships with vendors and partner organizations to ensure sufficient space, resources, and access to services Work with other directors to cross-market YNPNdc programs for other program participants. Coordinate with the Communications Committee for marketing and communications for the program. Represent the organization at key events, making and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. Work with the Director of Learning Programs and Networking to build an annual programming plan and submit a corresponding annual program budget to the full board. The Programs Committee will be responsible for updating the plan and program budget annually. Serves as a backup to volunteer responsibilities. With support from the full board, define and implement methods of evaluating YNPNdc mentorship programming for impact, reach, participant satisfaction and other measures as needed. Regularly identify new opportunities for programming in the area of mentorship. The Director of Recruitment and Retention is responsible for overseeing YNPNdc’s volunteer management strategy. This position will lead in the vision, development, and execution of recruitment and retention initiatives that align with YNPNdc’s mission and vision. The Director also serves as Chair of the Volunteer Engagement Committee, leading a team of talented volunteers to execute YNPNdc’s recruitment and retention strategy. Primary Responsibilities Recruitment Manages the annual board member recruitment process in conjunction with the Governance Committee, working to fill board roles throughout the year should vacancies arise. Collaborates with Board Members to interview and onboard volunteers for their respective committees. Alongside the DEI Committee, incorporates a comprehensive DEI strategy into the recruitment process Manages the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of volunteers and board members Retention Plans and executes quarterly social engagement events and activities to cultivate retention and relationship-building within the organization. Works closely with Board Members to ensure they have the resources to effectively lead their committee volunteers, providing support with volunteer management and communication where needed. Uses Mailchimp to create quarterly volunteer newsletters, which include organizational updates, board member and volunteer recognition, upcoming events, and important reminders. Maintains an updated board and volunteer roster. Implements exit surveys to collect valuable data from volunteers and board members at the end of their term.
