Mission Statement
The International African American Museum (IAAM) shall serve as a cultural and educational institution dedicated to researching, presenting, preserving, and paying tribute to the African American experience, particularly the experience in South Carolina’s Lowcountry. The IAAM shall accomplish its mission through exhibitions; research and publications; and a diverse array of educational, artistic and public programs that will inspire the public to explore the integral relationship between the Lowcountry’s African American heritage and its other cultural traditions.
Description
The International African American Museum (IAAM) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization led by a 26 member Board of Directors and a National Advisory Board. The CEO/President of IAAM is Mr. Michael Boulware Moore. Moore leds a staff of two, a Director of Museum Planning and a Program Manager. The IAAM will break ground in February 2018 and construction is due to be completed in 2020. IAAM is completing its $75 Million Capital Campaign the Fall of 2017 and is now implementing it 2018 Charter Membership Program to support the IAAM's operational budget.
