Mission Statement

In appreciation of the role the Library plays in the quality of life in this area, the Friends of the Lexington Public Library provides financial, advocacy and volunteer support to the Library, and functions consistently with the goals and objectives of the Lexington Public Library and its Board of Trustees.

Description

The Friends of the Lexington Public Library was formed in 1968 to provide financial and physical support to the library and to help the library become a lively center of community activity. In 1998, Friends Book Cellar, a used bookstore located in the lower level of the Central Library, was opened. The Friends Book Cellar Ebay store opened in October 2004. The store is managed by two part-time employees and a host of generous volunteers.
