SAVE INDIAN FARMERS

Description

The name of our organization is Save Indian Farmers (SIF). SIF is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, more specifically to help support the plight of Indian farmers and address issues affecting the high suicide rate among farmers in India.

We are a charitable organization established under Section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS to address issues related to farmer’ suicides in India. We formed this organization in late 2011 and had our first fundraiser in January 2012, where we raised $4,700. Here are the members of this organization: Jitendra Karkera, Parag Deshpande, Gaurav Kumar, Hemant Joshi, Rahul Kulkarni, Subodh Salwekar, and Shashikant Dalal.

In 2011, none of us had any idea about this issue; when we came to know that, on average, one farmer commits suicide every 41 minutes in India, it really shook us. We realized that this is a humanitarian crisis of epic proportion. It affects people’s right to life, water, food and adequate standard of living. We registered this company in the State of Arkansas to help victim families and give our aid to farmers.
