Mission Statement

The mission of the Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is to find better treatments and ultimately prevent and cure systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or lupus), a debilitating autoimmune disease, by supporting medical research.

Description

The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is a national voluntary health organization based in New York City that was founded in 1999 and is chaired by Robert Wood Johnson IV, a member of the founding family of Johnson & Johnson. By committing millions of dollars to significant lupus research every year and holding nationwide lupus walks to secure additional funding, the ALR is proactively battling lupus.

This is a good cause and the organization represented in a friendly manner the importance of helping others. I was not made to feel like a volunteer but a co-worker. They were an excellent representation of teamwork, too. I felt comfortable asking questions, which is always a concern when choosing to volunteer. They were not demanding in giving instructions and put critical thinking skills to the test. They were about the business as they handled their business in decency, order and with respect. I look forward to the opportunity again next year. Go Lupus Ally's!!!
