We are Community Agency for Senior Citizens, Inc.(CASC)an agency that serves homebound older adults. CASC has been in Staten Island for 48 years. Our mission is to keep older adults in their homes for as long as possible. Many of our clients are socially isolated and the only person they see each day is the driver who comes to drop off their Meals-on-Wheels. This does not provide the socialization they so desperately need. This is why we need you to be a friend to an older adult. At this time it is just about have making a simple phone call since everyone is under shelter in place. But once this health crisis of the COVID-19 Volunteers will be able to resume being able to visit and have a cup of coffee, tea, play cards, take a walk and/or just chat. These telephone chats can be short and brief to someone who is feeling very alone and isolated. We only ask for an hour per week. Volunteers can be from 18 to 80. To find out more about this opportunity please contact Rosanne McAllister 718-981-6226 ext. 141.

With these changing times due to the COVID-19 virus we are asking Volunteers to make telephone calls instead of visiting Clients. Maybe you are home thinking of what you can do to keep yourself be occupied. This is a terrific opportunity to share stories with each other. The telephone call does not need to be that long. Its just about sharing some time with someone who maybe feeling very alone and isolated. We have a lovely wheelchair bound senior who spends most of her days alone. This Client does not have much of a family. She loves old movies, and also loves to knit and crochet (she can even teach you!). She has 2 very friendly dogs but would love someone to come and chat with her and even sharpen her computer skills. If you can get to Travis and can spare one hour per week, please contact Rosanne McAllister at 718 981-6226, ext 141 for further information. Thanks in advance for your kindness. Your kindness will benefit someone who is alone and isolated.

Hello Welcome to the New World "We" are All Living In. Please think about spending some very needy telephone time with someone who would greatly benefit from you sharing your stories with them. If you are like many, you are home and may be looking to keep yourself busy. This is a terrific opportunity to be able to share with an older person who is also very alone. I have a lovely and very funny older adult who has been homebound before this virus began. But, since the virus is ongoing the older adult is even more isolated due to friends and her family not being able to visit. We are Community Agency for Senior Citizens, Inc. also known in Staten Island as CASC. This is the Friendly Visiting Program which is funded through the New York City Department for the Aging. CASC services many older adults throughout the Staten Island community. We would have you complete a telephone visit a client in your own home community. The telephone visit is for at most one hour per week.

We are Community Agency for Senior Citizens, Inc. (CASC). We have been in Staten Island for over 48years. We only serve Older Adults. The program is called the Friendly Visiting Program (FVP). The program is celebrating it 5th year. The program began in January/2017. We look to "Match" you the Volunteer with an Older Adult. The program asks that you spend one hour per week in the Client's home. While visiting the Client, you can have a cup of coffee/tea, play a table top game, cards, read a book together, watch a movie. The visit is what you both decide upon. This is a building block relationship. So far, many of our "Match's" have become good friends and look forward to these weekly visits and/or telephone calls. Your volunteering brings much happiness to someone who is alone and isolated. Know that you will be brightening up someone's day!
